Is it reasonable to say that Drake is better than Madonna, The Beatles, Janet Jackson, or even Rihanna? Because Drake has taken the Billboard record for the most top 10 hits in the history of the charts.
DJ Khaled has been making hits with the rapper since the release of “I’m On One” in 2011, so it would make sense that he assisted the track that earned Drake the record for most top 10 entries in Billboard history. The rapper is already the record holder for the most entries on the Billboard Hot 100 all together and has now extended his lead as he dethroned Madonna for the most top 10 hits, a record she held since November 2002.
Drake formerly tied with Madonna at 38 songs for most top 10 hits on the chart. That was after Drake passed The Beatles’ record of 34 songs. Drake honored the occasion with a tattoo of the album cover for The Beatles’ 11th studio album, Abbey Road. With new entries on the chart, Drake has upped Madonna for the title thanks to DJ Khaled who produced the tracks “Greece” and “Popstar”. The rapper now holds 40 top 10 hits in the history of the Billboard Hot 100.
This week “Popstar” debuted at No. 3 and “Greece” at No. 8. According to Nielsen Music/MRC Data, the previous recorded 28.4 million streams and 15,000 in income within the first week, while the latter accumulated 22.1 million streams and sold 9,000 units. Billboard additionally stated that the titles garnered a large radio airplay target of some 13.1 million and 13.5 million respectively.
