Dancehall superstar Mavado is now in a pensive mood, this after his son Dante Brooks was today (Jan 27) found guilty of murder.
Dante Brooks, 18, and his co-accused, Andre Hinds, were both found guilty of murder, illegal possession of a firearm, and arson today in the Supreme Court in Kingston, Jamaica.
Their conviction stems from the June 5, 2018, home-invasion homicide of Lorenzo Thomas in the Cassava Piece community in St. Andrew, Jamaica.
During a lengthy month-long trial, the Crown led evidence that Brooks and Hinds were among a group of men who forcibly entered Thomas' house and accused him of being a member of an opposing faction that was at odds with them, then shot and killed him.
The killers then set Thomas' body and house ablaze after pouring gasoline on them.
Brooks and Hinds were subsequently arrested and charged with murder et al by the police.
The Crown's main witness was Thomas' father who gave eyewitness testimony during the trial that he was at home at the time of the incident and that the killers are known to him.
Brooks and Hinds are to know their fate on March 10, when they'll be sentenced.
