Reggae and Dancehall icon Carlton Grant, popularly known as Spragga Benz, is set to release his new album on September 28th, 2020. The eleven-track album titled “The Journey Chosen” will be Spragga’s ninth studio album. Spragga’s newest project is set to feature collaborations with some of the popular culture's top acts including Grammy nominee Kymani Marley, Wayne Wonder, Jahazeil Myrie, Kranium, and Konshens.
Spragga Benz has been an astute ambassador for Reggae and Dancehall music ever since he released his first album “Jack It Up” in 1994. Since his first album Spragga has built himself quite a long and impressive discography with hits like "Oh Yeah" featuring Foxy Brown, "Run Things", "Wi Nuh Like", "She Nuh Ready Yet", "Backshot" featuring Lady Saw, "A-1 Lover” featuring Chevelle Franklin, “Tiny Tot", and "No Way" just to name a few. These songs have seen Spragga's iconic status rise in the music culture, as well as him becoming a household name in Jamaica, the Caribbean, and worldwide.
Spragga Benz scored a number #1 album on Billboard for the first time in his career in 2019. The 15-track album, “Chiliagon” was released by recording label Easy Star and reached number 1 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart. The "Chiliagon" album features the likes of General Levy, Sean Paul, and Rodney P. This was Spragga’s second album charting on the coveted Billboard Reggae Albums chart after his 2000 album “Fully Loaded” reached number 6.
Along with the plethora of reggae and dancehall hits released by Spragga Benz, he has also contributed immensely to the Jamaican culture through another art form -- acting. In 2002 Spragga starred as Wayne in the Source Award-winning movie “Shottas”, this after starring as himself in the 1999 film “Brooklyn Babylon”.
Even though the album won’t be released until 5days' time, fans can pre-order it on their preferred streaming platform.
